description

This book was completed in France on September 30, 1972 on the presses of the imprimerie Union. The color plates were printed in France by The Imprimerie Moderne Du Lion from offset color separations of Joan Miro's graphics that were made by the Perrot and Griset engravings studio. The frontispiece lithograph was pulled by Jean Celestin at Mourlot and the lithograph on pages 16-17 was pulled at the Imprimerie Arte by Rene Le Moigne, who was also responsible for printing the jacket lithograph, an original work by Joan Miro conceived special for this edition. This work is a handsome survey of the artist's achievements as a printmaker and illustrator from the early 1930s to the present. Beautifully illustrated with 115 examples of his aquatints, drawings, drypoints, etchings, lithographs, book illustrations, and posters, ranging from the sombre Barcelona Series through his prodigious Equinox to two charming new lithographs created especially for this book and suitable for framing. A beautiful copy bound in blue cloth, stamped in gilt with facsimile of Miro's signature, spine lettering gilt.
