Andrus was born in New York City. He graduated with a bachelors degree from Yale University in March of 1968. After college he moved to Portland, OR. Most of his works include epoxy resin and aluminum. His work has been exhibited in the Greenwich Art Society between 1966 and 1968 where he obtained 1st place in sculpture, 1965 and 1966. He was also awarded best in show in the year 1967. His exhibitions include 23rd New England Exhibition: Painting & Sculpture in 1972 and the Sculptors Guild in New York, 1972.
